From volcanoes we moved on to earthquakes. It is very atmospheric, with cars covered in volcanic ash, films of eruptions and rows of the different types of rock created from those eruptions. However, we were directed to the side entrance and, luckily, didn’t have to queue at all.Īs we walked up the steps, we entered the Earth Hall, dominated by a huge metallic globe, swallowing all visitors who entered it via a great escalator. The walls of the hall are illustrated with constellations and our solar system. Being the last week of the school holidays, as well as the final week of the Age of the Dinosaur exhibition, we were expecting long queues. With the exception of a quick visit to the central hall, to my shame, I haven’t visited the Natural History Museum since I was at school.
